Why do balms get grainy at times?

Balms that contain natural and organic ingredients and do not use emulsifiers are likely to become grainy at times.

This is due to the crystallisation of the natural wax or butters in the balms. When the temperature of the balms changes as you carry the balm back and forth (from your bag, to your car, to your home and so on) crystallisation can occur .

Don't panic, this DOES NOT change the effects of the ingredients.

The balm should melt in your hands. So rub some of the balm in the palm of your hands and spread onto the desired area.

Another option would be to heat the balm in some hot water, and leave to cool. Once it has cooler it will be back to the smooth texture that you love.
